With a fleet management or track-and-trace contract, you can see the monthly price right away. How long you’re actually locked in, what happens if your hardware needs to be replaced, and how an additional app affects your contract term are often hidden in the fine print. This contract check will help you know what questions to ask before you sign.
AllConnects is a Flemish provider of telematics solutions for fleet, equipment, and team management. The Kontich-based company has been supporting businesses since 2002. Anyone who purchases the hardware signs up with AllConnects for 1 year; for a rental plan, it's 3 years. Upgrading from 2G to 4G does not start a new contract period: your current subscription simply continues.
A longer term isn't necessarily a bad thing. But you want to know up front what you're signing up for—and what happens if your fleet or your needs change.
A competitive monthly rate sometimes comes with a longer commitment. Therefore, calculate the total cost over the entire term, not just on a monthly basis.
Many contracts are automatically renewed. That's not a problem, as long as you know the deadline for canceling. Be sure to mark both the end date and the cancellation deadline in your calendar right away.
Hardware becomes obsolete, as is currently the case with the phase-out of 2G. Check whether your current contract will continue as usual if you replace your device, or whether the contract term will reset to zero.
If you plan to add time tracking or equipment management later, check whether that addition will have its own term or whether your entire partnership will be extended accordingly.
Vehicles are sold, and machinery is written off. Ask how to cancel a subscription and what an early cancellation will actually cost you.
Signing a four-year contract doesn't always mean you're free after four years. Suppose you sign a multi-year contract with a supplier, and partway through, you need to replace your hardware. Choose the contract term and the timing of the upgrade, and immediately see the difference between a contract that continues and one that restarts.
In Scenario A, you're free after 4 years. In Scenario B, you're locked in for 7 years after signing: 3 years longer than you originally agreed to.
And at AllConnects?
We do not offer multi-year contracts at the time of purchase. And an upgrade never extends your contract term.
After that, your contract will be automatically renewed. You can cancel up to 60 calendar days before the end date.
A simplified example of how a multi-year contract works. The specifics of your situation are outlined in the terms and conditions of your own contract.
Check off what you already have in writing. For any items that remain unresolved, follow up with your supplier in writing. Or bring the list with you to your next quote meeting.

The same questions, our answers. So you know what you're choosing before you make a decision.
“With the other companies, we really had to sign up for 5 years, whereas with you, the subscription can be canceled after just one year. Since we weren’t familiar with the product yet, that was definitely a big plus for us.”
Stay because it works. Not because you're stuck.
In addition to the monthly price, check the contract term, any tacit renewal provisions, and the notice period. Also ask what happens if you upgrade or add an extra app, and what the cost is for early termination. The contract check on this page lists the ten most important questions.
That depends on your provider's terms and conditions. The current term may simply continue, or the replacement may start a new term. Be sure to ask for confirmation in writing before you agree. With AllConnects, your subscription simply continues when you upgrade from 2G to 4G.
1 year if you buy the hardware, 3 years if you rent it. Upgrading from 2G to 4G doesn't change that: your subscription continues as before.
Yes, the contract is automatically renewed. If you want to cancel, you must give notice at least 60 calendar days before the end date. If you add an additional app or module later, it will have its own 1-year subscription, separate from your current contract.
Yes, but make sure to plan it well. First, find out the end date and the latest date to give notice for your current contract. During a free consultation, we’ll work with you to figure out the timing and how to plan the transition without disrupting your fleet or shipyard operations.
Not necessarily. A longer contract term can come with a lower price or spread-out hardware costs, as is the case with leasing. It’s important to know up front how long you’re locked in and what happens if your needs change.
