If there is one thing you can say about our Belgian winters, it is that they are unpredictable: temperatures fluctuate greatly and rain is regularly alternated with snow. As a fleet manager, you get a lot on your plate and this is certainly no different during the winter, quite the contrary. You know better than anyone that planning and preparation is everything. Of course, we all forget sometimes! That's why we provide you with a little reminder for the smaller things that do get forgotten, but are no less important.
1 | Does the vehicle contain sufficient antifreeze?
Protect the engine during cold weather with antifreeze engine fluid. This ensures that the substances present in your vehicles remain liquid up to a temperature of up to -30°C.
2 | Is the battery okay?
Both too high and too low outdoor temperatures affect your fleet batteries. Even car batteries in perfect condition deliver up to 35% less voltage in colder weather. So check the condition of the battery regularly.
3 | What about the amount of fuel in the tank?
Antifreeze is added to our fuels as standard during the winter period. Although diesel and gasoline only freeze at temperatures between -30°C and -50°C, it is smart to always leave the fuel tank one-quarter full.
4 | Is there still enough pressure on the tires of your fleet?
Check your tire pressure regularly, as cold weather can cause your tire pressure to drop faster.
5 | Check and replace wipers regularly.
During heavy precipitation, a pair of good windshield wipers is very important. Therefore, check the wipers regularly and replace them at least once a year or more often, depending on the frequency of use. Also remember to refill the wiper fluid?
