What is a BLE gateway?
A BLE gateway, or also called a BLE beacon or BLE beacon - is a device that operates on bluetooth technology, on the same principle as a Wi-Fi router. It contains the hardware and application software needed to connect all desired business assets (materials, equipment, machines, etc.) to the cloud.
The gateway is like a meeting place for these assets. A very large space may need more than one gateway, but this depends on several factors. The gateway connects many types of enterprise assets equipped with a BLE tag. The cloud is where all data is stored, then forwarded to our online management application.
The gateway is the means by which all assets are indirectly connected to the cloud and the application. So the BLE-GATEWAY is a device placed in strategic places. They operate with low power consumption and pick up the signals from the BLE tag in areas where fixed gateways were placed, indoor but also outdoor in business parks, car parks, etc. BLE beacons are compact, energy efficient and can operate for years on a single battery.
Key features of BLE gateways:
- Real-time data transfer: They transmit information directly to a platform for further analysis.
- Multiple connection options: Gateways often support Wi-Fi, Ethernet or cellular networks.
- Scalability: capable of managing hundreds of beacons simultaneously in large installations.
Benefits of BLE technology:
- Affordable: Low implementation costs compared to other tracking methods.
- Flexible: Suitable for a variety of applications and environments.
- Accurate: Able to determine location information to within a few meters.
- Durable: Energy efficient and low maintenance thanks to long battery life.
By combining BLE beacons and gateways, you can create a powerful and cost-effective system for real-time monitoring and management. This makes it ideal for companies in industries such as logistics, manufacturing and healthcare.
