Save money by investing in a time clock system!

You already read it in the title; "Save money by investing in a time clock." How so? Well, a time clock system is a great asset to your business. Why? There are a whole host of benefits associated with it that will save you a lot of money in the short and long term. For example, thanks to the time clock, you are always aware of who exactly is present on site and when. In emergency situations, such an attendance list can be enormously useful, allowing you to respond to situations quickly and correctly. In this blog, we list the most important things for you.

Why do I need such a time clock again?

In the construction sector, it is compulsory to register employees who are active on a construction site - where works are carried out for a total investment of €500,000 or more - with the NSSO. This can be done both manually through the website provided by the government, but you can also automate this through a time clock system.

Depending on the size of your worksite, you install one or more time clocks. Your employees register every morning at the start of the workday with their badge (Limosa, Dallas Key, ... ) and do the same again when they leave the yard at the end of the day. The registered data is sent directly to the necessary authorities.

Which time clock should I choose?

When choosing the right time clock system, there are several things to keep in mind. Is it sufficient to install 1 system, or is a second system recommended? Do you want to further protect your yard with a turnstile so that only authorized personnel can enter it?

1) Without tourniquet

Considering a time clock system without a turnstile? Perfect! Upon entering the yard in the morning, and leaving the yard in the evening, your crew can sign in with a badge of their choice *. Depending on the size of the yard on which you operate, it may be convenient to provide 2 or even more turnstiles at the yard entrance(s). Registration and transmission to the NSSO is then completely automatic.

* We determine in advance with you which badge(s) can be used for registration. We configure these afterwards on the time clock. Currently, our time clock system is compatible with RFID badge, Dallas Key, Construbadge, company badge, QR code, identity card, 2 BE Lisa badge and Metalbadge. Do you prefer another login option than the ones mentioned above? Do not hesitate to contact us and we will gladly discuss this further during a personal meeting.

2) With tourniquet

Want to make sure that only authorized persons can enter your yard? Then a time clock system including turnstiles might be a better option for you. Here we place the time clock(s) at the entrance(s) to your yard, depending on the size of your yard you can also opt to place multiple systems, and we make a connection between the time clock and the turnstile. The time clock system itself works completely the same as in the above option, only access to the turnstile will be denied until the moment of successful login.

What are the benefits of a time clock?

Back over to the "saving costs" bit. Indeed, you do pay for the time clock and its installation, but you save - and avoid - certain major costs. These costs, of course, vary from company to company.

Benefit 1: In case of an accident in your yard

We can say that it is a fairly realistic statement when we say that a construction site is not always the safest environment to be present on. Tall structures that are still under construction, depths that you can fall into, material lying around that you can trip over, ... But moving vehicles such as the trucks that come to deliver materials or the crane that moves the material to the right place on the site also pose a danger. It only takes one inattentive driver to cause a serious accident.

In the event of an accident, it is important that you can immediately identify the victim. Thanks to the time clock system, you immediately know who is in the yard, and who has also left it again. This allows you to identify missing persons or injured persons in a minimum amount of time. Even in emergency situations - think fire or danger of explosion, for example - such a list can help you evacuate quickly.

Benefit 2: Avoid theft of equipment in your yard

You hear more and more stories about theft of smaller and larger equipment on construction sites. At the end of the day, smaller equipment is not always returned to the van and is sometimes left lying around. Easily accessible construction sites are tempting to thieves. With a turnstile at the entrance to your site, only people with a registered badge can enter. If some tools are accidentally left lying around, don't worry. Everyone can get back to work the next day!

Benefit 3: the exemption from withholding tax pass-through.

On Jan. 1, 2018, the "withholding tax pass-through" exemption was expanded by tinkering with the concept of shift work. Whereas previously the exemption was viewed at the level of the individual employee, it is now viewed at the level of the group of employees working shifts. With a time clock system, you easily demonstrate the group of individuals who began the workday together. This way there is no doubt whether it is an individual performance, or a performance in shift.
