Advice on Switching from 2G to 4G

If your trackers are still running on 2G, they will eventually stop transmitting data. We'll check which devices in your fleet are affected and determine the best time to have them switched over.

AllConnects is a Belgian provider of track-and-trace and telematics solutions based in Kontich that assists companies with vehicle or machinery fleets in migrating from 2G hardware to 4G.

Does your hardware still work on 2G?

You don't have to be a technician to figure that out. Three things almost always provide the answer—and if you're still unsure, we'll look it up for you in your file.

The year your unit was built

Devices installed before 2020 often still run on 2G. Can't remember when your fleet was equipped? That information is in your file with us.

Stalled or Slow-Moving Positions

Trips that are reported incompletely, positions that lag behind, or units that drop out in certain locations: these are typical signs of a network that is being phased out.

Problems Abroad

If you drive to Germany, Switzerland, or Scandinavia, that's where you'll notice it first. Those networks are already further along in the phase-out process than the Belgian one.

What Happens After You Fill Out the Form

This isn't a sales pitch. We'll start by taking a look at what you currently have.

Step 1

We'll locate your devices

An advisor will check which units in your fleet operate on 2G and which are already 4G-ready. If you’re not yet a customer, we’ll go over this with you over the phone.

Step 2

You'll get an overview

Which devices need to be replaced, which ones don't, and what the logical order is if you want to work in phases. Includes an estimate of the turnaround time.

Step 3

You decide when

We’ll schedule installations only once the overview is correct. You choose the time: at our workshop, at your location, or through a local partner.

Frequently Asked Questions About Switching Providers

How do I know if my trackers are still using 2G?

If you're an AllConnects customer, we'll look it up for you: for each vehicle, we can see what type of unit is installed and which network it uses. You don't have to read anything yourself. If you're not yet a customer, the brand and model year of your system are usually enough for us to give you a definitive answer.

Should I switch now, or can I wait a little longer?

Technically speaking, you have more time in Belgium than in neighboring countries. In practice, however, waiting isn’t a good idea: everyone is migrating during the same window, and as a result, our installation schedule is already filling up faster. Those who plan early get to choose their own timing; those who wait get whatever’s left. If you regularly drive abroad, the urgency isn’t determined by the Belgian timeline but by that of the country where you’re driving.

What happens to my historical data?

Your existing trips, reports, and history will remain on the platform. A migration replaces the hardware in the vehicle, not your data. What you will lose, however, is anything that a 2G unit can no longer transmit after the shutdown—that data will never be received again. That is exactly why you shouldn’t wait until the last minute.

How long does an installation like that take?

That depends on the vehicle's make and model, the type of unit, and the circumstances. Depending on the type of installation and the work schedule, it can happen quickly: order today, installed tomorrow. We operate from our own workshop and work with local partners, which allows us to schedule even larger fleets over time.

Do I have to switch over my entire fleet all at once?

No. Most companies proceed in phases: first, the vehicles that operate abroad or are the most critical, followed by the rest. We’ll work with you to determine the order, aligning it with your maintenance schedule so that vehicles don’t experience any additional downtime.

How much does a migration to 4G cost?

That depends on the number of units, the type of unit, and whether you want to upgrade to additional features right away. Because there are significant differences, we do not list a suggested price on the website. After we review your current units, you’ll receive a proposal tailored to your fleet.

We reward those who decide early with an attractive discount. When we provide you with feedback on your 2G check, we’ll let you know right away which current terms and conditions apply to your fleet.
