An international use case: how JYSK set up its own delivery service in just a few months, with route planning for 40 to 60 addresses per delivery van.

International use case

JYSK, the Scandinavian home goods retailer, launched its own delivery service in 2020 and plans the routes for its delivery vans—which make 40 to 60 stops per day—using route planning and progress tracking. JYSK is not a customer of AllConnects: this is an international use case from our technology partner to demonstrate what is possible with FLEET.connect.

"You can see that the solutions are designed to address business challenges and streamline many of the day-to-day business operations."

About JYSK

JYSK is a Scandinavian retailer of home goods, with stores throughout Europe and its own online store. For years, JYSK completely outsourced the fulfillment of online orders. That changed in 2020.

The reason: our own delivery service, launched sooner than planned

When the pandemic caused online sales to surge, JYSK had to quickly expand its delivery capacity. The plan to establish its own fleet was already in place, but it suddenly became much more urgent.

"We had already been considering having our own fleet to ensure a higher quality of delivery service, but the pandemic caused us to accelerate our plans. We ended up launching the project within a few months—something that would have taken a year under normal circumstances. Once we started working on the project, it became clear that we also needed GPS tracking, fuel monitoring, and route planning to track our fleet’s performance."

What JYSK Needed

JYSK’s delivery vans make daily deliveries to 40 to 60 addresses, both from the warehouse and from the stores. JYSK was therefore looking for a solution to plan routes with multiple delivery points and time windows, track progress, and obtain accurate delivery information. After conducting market research, JYSK chose this technology because it was the best fit in terms of both features and cost.

Route planning, reports, and a single communication channel

Route planning is the most important application at JYSK.

"We currently use route planning and optimization that includes multiple delivery points, as well as additional loads and deliveries. In addition, we plan routes for three different delivery time slots and regularly track route progress and estimated arrival times. This data allows us to identify deviations from the schedule, enabling us to provide our customers with more accurate delivery information."

Progress and Arrival Time

Any deviations from the schedule are immediately visible, ensuring that customers receive accurate information.

Fuel Reports

Spend less time collecting and recording fuel receipts and trip reports.

A single communication channel

Couriers, the transportation department, and the warehouse communicate through the same application.

"We use the management application as a communication channel between our couriers, the transportation department, and the warehouse staff. A unified communication platform allows us to ensure transparency and stay informed about rescheduled deliveries and any issues that may arise during the delivery process."

The result

According to JYSK, the solution not only helps provide customers with more accurate delivery times, but also allows for precise scheduling of employee work hours. Furthermore, the platform and mobile apps can be easily adapted to the company’s operations.
