Let’s be honest: we pay for 8 hours a day, so we expect 8 hours of work. And that way, it gets checked pretty naturally—so it’s not a problem. — Bjorn Van den Brande, owner of Schilderstudio & Straalstudio
Painting Studio: Accurately tracking job site performance — without having to be there every day
Bjorn Van den Brande is the manager of Schilderstudio and Straalstudio—two companies specializing in fine paintwork and the sandblasting of stairs and old beams. With a crew of 10 to 15 people on site every day, one recurring challenge arose: how do you know if everyone arrives on time and works the full eight hours when you aren’t always there yourself? Bjorn found the answer through a quick online search—and it turned out to be closer to home than expected.
This conversation with Bjorn Van den Brande took place in 2022–2023 and is part of the partnership between Schilderstudio and AllConnects.
The challenge: 10 minutes per person per day really adds up
The math is simple, but the reality is stark. If several people on a crew start 10 to 15 minutes late or finish 10 to 15 minutes early every day, labor costs can really add up—without you, as the manager, even realizing it. Especially in the construction industry, where labor costs in Belgium are already high, that represents a real loss.
Bjorn would often start up the construction sites himself and be there in person—but he couldn’t do that every day. He needed a way to verify remotely whether his team was arriving at the site on time and when they were leaving. Not to monitor them just for the sake of it, but to be honest with his people and with himself.
Remote site arrivals
You can see exactly what time each crew arrives at the site and when they leave—without having to be there yourself.
Time alarm for personal use
Is a company vehicle still on the road after the set time? You’ll automatically receive an email notification. No debate, just data.
A complete overview of the fleet
8 to 9 vehicles and 1 machine are constantly connected. All locations and movements are displayed in a single overview.
The choice: local, easy to find, set up correctly
The search for a solution was brief: a single online search for a track-and-trace company in the area led Bjorn to AllConnects, which is literally located just a stone’s throw from Schilderstudio. After a conversation with the sales representative, a careful implementation followed: contacting the HR department, reviewing the legislation regarding the tracking of personnel and vehicles, amending employment contracts, and ensuring full transparency with the staff.
LIVE.connect in practice: site visits and personal use
Schilderstudio uses AllConnects' LIVE platform. All 8 to 9 vehicles and 1 machine are constantly connected. Using the app, Bjorn can see at a glance what's happening on-site.
What Bjorn tracks every day via LIVE.connect
- Real-time location of each vehicle Including arrival and departure times at each site
- Arrivals at the yard by shift Who arrived at what time—and at what time did they leave?
- Automatic time alarm for private use Email notification if a vehicle is still in use after approximately 6:30 p.m.
This last point is managed using a time-based alert: some employees are allowed to take the company car home, but personal use after work hours is not permitted. As soon as a car is still in motion after the set time, the system automatically sends an email. No arguments, no guesswork—just objective data.
Service that works: one phone call, a response within the day
Our partnership with AllConnects is going smoothly. Whenever Schilderstudio has a question, all it takes is a phone call or an email—and we always get a response within the same day. For a small business without an IT department, that’s exactly what matters.
